According to recent studies, abrupt weaning while breastfeeding is a risk factor associated with postpartum mood disorders.   Studies are now showing that breastfeeding, done properly, can help reduce the risk of postpartum mood disorders.  You should always check with your pediatrician, ob/gyn or primary healthcare provider about the decision to breastfeed and/or when to stop.  This page is not intended to take the place of the advice of your healthcare provider.
